## IMO REPORTING

[The International Maritime Organization](https://www.imo.org/en/About/Pages/Default.aspx) (IMO) is the United Nations agency responsible for the safety and security of shipping.

The IMO produces monthly and annual reports of actual and attempted attacks by pirates and armed robbers against ships. Reporting is based on data and information submitted by IMO Member Governments as well as appropriate regional and international organizations.

The reporting is divided as follows:

* Ship Name, type of ship, flag, gross tonnage, IMO number
* Date and time
* Position of incident
* Consequences for crew, ship, and cargo
* Action taken by the master and crew
* Was the incident reported to the coastal authority? Which one?
* Reporting State or international organization
* Coastal State Action Taken

## COMMENT

The most relevant incident from this report is the attack on the Everbright Tanker IVO Peru. Three robbers boarded the tanker while at anchor. Ships at anchor tend to be at their most vulnerable to pirate attacks.
